Desmoid tumors are neoplasms of the conjunctive tissue that are characterized by exclusive locoregional growth, frequent recurrence and minimal metastatic potential. They mainly affect individuals with familial adenomatous polyposis of the colon, and rarely occur isolated. The single form of this neoplasm most frequently appears in women of reproductive age, and during pregnancy. A case of a desmoid tumor of large proportions located in the abdominal wall is described. It appeared at the 17th week of pregnancy in a woman without any history of familial adenomatous polyposis. The neoplasm was totally extirpated, with the use of a polypropylene prosthesis for reconstitution of the abdominal wall. One year after the surgery, the patient continues to be well, while using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the prevention of relapses.

Myiasis located in the vulva is a rarely described disease. The objective of the present report is to describe a case of vulvar myiasis due to larvae of Cochliomyia hominivorax. A 77-year-old woman with precarious hygienic habits presented pain, pruritus and secretions with a fetid smell in the genital region for 10 days. Gynecological examination demonstrated an ulcerated lesion in the labium majus of the vulva measuring six centimeters that extended to the mons pubis and was found to be filled with larvae. The patient progressed favorably after removal of the larvae, surgical debridement and daily dressings. Fourteen days after the debridement, she was submitted to skin flap rotation, with good local scar formation. Two months after the intervention, she remained asymptomatic. Vulvar myiasis must be considered in the differential diagnosis of infectious diseases of the vulva in patients with precarious hygienic habits.

Liposarcoma is a rare neoplasia that originates from primitive mesenchymal cells and is the most common histological type of sarcoma. It mainly affects the limbs but can reach other regions. Genital localization is, however, rare. The authors report a case of vulvar liposarcoma in a 27-year-old patient, who presented a progressively growing mass that limited her movements. Physical examination showed a large ulcerated vulvar tumor. The patient underwent local resection and histopathological examination diagnosed a well-differentiated liposarcoma with uncompromised margins. At the present time, 24 months after surgery, the patient is well and without recurrence of the disease.
